Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Occasional evenings, weekends, holidays, and after-hours work may be required to support ministry activities, campus operations, and emergency facility needs.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Facilities Craftsman advances the mission of First Baptist Atlanta (FBA) by creating safe, functional, and welcoming ministry environments through skilled woodworking, finish carpentry, construction, and repair. This position supports worship, discipleship, outreach, and daily ministry operations while demonstrating excellence, faithful stewardship, and servant leadership.
MINISTERIAL FUNCTION
The Facilities Craftsman serves in a ministerial role by supporting FBA's mission through the faithful stewardship of its facilities.
Ministerial functions of this role include:

Growing and mature personal relationship with Jesus ChristAlignment with the beliefs, mission, vision, values, and Statement of Faith of FBACurrent member of FBA or enrolled in First Class with the intention of becoming a member within the first three months of employmentHigh School Diploma or GED required; technical training in carpentry, woodworking, construction, or a related trade preferredCommitment to FBA's culture, including the Red Carpet Standard (H.E.A.R.T.) and the 3M StrategyOSHA, forklift, aerial lift, or other skilled trade certifications preferredFive or more years of professional experience in woodworking, finish carpentry, cabinetry, or commercial constructionExperience in a church, educational, commercial campus, or hospitality environment preferredStrong communication, interpersonal, teamwork, and customer service skillsProficiency in woodworking, finish carpentry, blueprint interpretation, construction methods, project planning, and the safe operation of tools and equipmentESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Campus Stewardship
Maintain and improve FBA's facilities through skilled woodworking, finish carpentry, construction, and repairEnsure ministry spaces are safe, functional, attractive, and ministry-readySteward FBA's property, equipment, tools, materials, and resources responsiblyConstruction & Fabrication
Design, build, install, and repair cabinetry, furniture, shelving, displays, fixtures, and architectural featuresPerform rough and finish carpentry, including framing, trim, millwork, flooring, doors, windows, and specialty woodworkComplete renovation, remodeling, office modification, and campus improvement projectsRead and interpret blueprints, drawings, and project specificationsMaintenance & Ministry Support
Maintain and repair building finishes, cabinetry, doors, hardware, walls, ceilings, flooring, and related components Safety & Operational Excellence- Safely operate woodworking machinery, power tools, ladders, lifts, and related equipment
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workshop, including inventories of tools and materials
- Comply with applicable safety procedures, building codes, and FBA policies
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS- Frequently stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, reach, and perform repetitive physical tasks
- Lift and carry up to 75 pounds and safely operate woodworking equipment, power tools, ladders, scaffolding, and aerial lifts
- Work indoors and outdoors in varying conditions and respond to after-hours emergency maintenance as needed
ADDITIONAL DUTIES- Support the overall ministry and mission of FBA
- Performs other related duties as required
