Job Summary:

Perform intermediate technical work for the design and fabrication of mechanical devices and electromechanical equipment and structures. Operate machine tools in the fabrication of mechanical devices and related parts. This position will interact on a regular basis with: staff, students and researchers. This position typically will advise and counsel: staff, students and researchers. This position will supervise: NA.

Responsibilities:

• Program machine tools to required settings using CAD-CAM software.
• Confer with customers to determine nature and scope of machining work required.
• Read and interpret sketches, prints, etc.
• Perform machine operations to fabricate specified devices and parts.
• Maintain and repair machine tools and related equipment.
• May assist faculty and students with design, use of experimental apparatus, and fabrication of teaching and research equipment.
• Provide training to entry level technicians and others assisting in the fabrication process.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

Educational Requirements:

Technical Diploma, Associate's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience

Required Experience:

Five to six years of job related experience

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

Skills:

Advanced machine tool setup, operation, maintenance and repair; reading and interpreting sketches and mechanical design prints and drawings; communications.
