Responsibilities- Perform maintenance, repair, and replacement services on commercial HVACR systems.
- Repair centrifugal compressors, steam turbines, absorption machines, open‑drive screw chillers, and ammonia systems.
- Provide solutions and outcomes at commissioning and aftermarket service, including recommendations, quotes, and upselling opportunities.
- Support branch customers through troubleshooting, installation, and repair activities.
- Use vibration equipment, dial indicators, and laser tools for mechanical shaft alignment of pumps, fans, and compressors.
- Maintain and install complete systems such as chillers, rooftop units, plumbing, and supporting mechanical systems.
- Prepare and provide service quotes to customers and participate in JCI’s Service Plus Rewards program.
- Member or willing to join the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry (AFL‑CIO).
- Minimum eight (8) years of commercial and/or industrial mechanical troubleshooting experience in HVAC, petrochemical, or data center environments.
- Experience repairing centrifugal compressors, steam turbines, screw chillers, and ammonia/hydrocarbon system components.
- Valid ammonia and hydrocarbon safety training certification.
- Ability to install complete systems including chillers, rooftop units, mechanical piping, and supporting equipment.
- Proficiency with mechanical shaft alignment, vibration analysis, and related diagnostic equipment.
- Pass a knowledge examination assessing proficiencies.
- Universal EPA refrigerants license, applicable state or local licensing, and a valid driver’s license.
- Self‑starter with a passion for learning, strong interpersonal and written communication skills, and a commitment to safety.
- Acceptance of the union local apprenticeship program within 365 days of employment is required.
- Competitive hourly rate (US $32.95 – 41.18) determined by education, experience, and market data.
