We’re working with an established and growing structural steel fabrication company in Georgia that is looking to add an experienced AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) to its team.
This is a permanent, shop-based opportunity with a steady Monday–Thursday schedule and the chance to work on a variety of structural steel and bridge fabrication projects
.
The facility works to AWS D1.1 and D1.5, making this particularly attractive for a CWI who wants to continue developing their experience across both structural steel and bridge work.
What You'll Be DoingYou’ll play an important role in maintaining the quality of the fabrication process, working closely with welders, supervisors, production, and quality teams.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Inspecting welded and fabricated structural steel throughout production.
- Carrying out visual weld inspections (VT) and identifying defects or non-conformances.
- Ensuring welding activities comply with AWS D1.1 and D1.5.
- Reviewing drawings, welding details, specifications, and inspection documentation.
- Monitoring fabrication and welding activities against approved procedures.
- Documenting quality issues and working with production teams to resolve them.
- Completing accurate inspection reports and maintaining quality records.
- Supporting a strong culture of quality throughout the fabrication shop.
- A current AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification.
- Previous CWI experience within a structural steel fabrication shop
. - Strong working knowledge of AWS D1.1.
- D1.5 / bridge fabrication experience is highly desirable.
- The ability to interpret structural drawings, welding details, and specifications.
- A good understanding of welding quality standards and acceptance criteria.
- Strong attention to detail and documentation skills.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively with shop and production teams.
(Experience with additional NDT methods such as UT, MT, PT, or RT would also be advantageous).
The company offers a Monday–Thursday schedule
, with opportunities available on:
First Shift – Days
or
Second Shift – Nights
There is also a 10% shift differential available for second-shift employees.
