Job SummaryThe Georgia Department of Human Services (DHS), Division of Family & Children Services, is seeking applicants for the position of County Director 1, Child Welfare Services. This position is located in Folkston, Charlton County, Georgia.
Job Responsibilities- Analyzes and assesses the effectiveness of existing programs to ensure the identified outcome measures are achieved.
- Assures agency compliance with policies, appropriate documentation, and reporting requirements.
- Creates and maintains positive working relationships within the community and on the county DFCS Board.
- Interviews, hires, directs, trains, evaluates the performance of, and when necessary, disciplines and discharges social services employees.
- Facilitates communication within the agency on a specific case level, as well as on a procedures/policy level. Also, facilitates communication and positive relationships with community partners and external customers.
- Plans, administers and maintains the operations of social services programs.
- Bachelor's degree in a related area from an accredited college or university AND two (2) years of supervisory experience in a human service delivery program.
OR
- Bachelor's degree in a related area from an accredited college or university AND two (2) years of experience at the lower level Child Welfare Svcs Spec Spv (SSP
073) or position equivalent.
Related qualifications include social work and behavioral science degrees, including but not limited to the following: social science, psychology, sociology, child development, family studies, criminal justice, education, public health and public administration. Related experience include the provision of services in a social services environment.
Preferred Qualifications- Three (3) or more years supervisory work experience with DFCS or comparable child welfare agency managing Child Protective Services (CPS), Foster Care and/or Adoptions.
Current State employees are subject to State Personnel Board (SPB) Rules regarding salary.
