Position Summary:

The Family Coordinator at the Fulton County Clubhouse for Youth plays a vital role in supporting the mission of the program by fostering positive family engagement and providing comprehensive support to the families of adolescents, aged 13-17. The coordinator will work closely with families to ensure their active involvement in the program and to promote a healthy and drug-free lifestyle for the youth.

This position requires strong interpersonal skills, excellent communication abilities, and a deep understanding of adolescent development and family dynamics. Some services provided by the Family Coordinator may be conducted in the community, school, or in client homes, including home visits.

Role and Responsibilities:

* Family Engagement:

* Build and maintain strong relationships with the families of the participating youth, acting as a primary point of contact and providing ongoing support and guidance.

* Assessment and Support:

* Conduct comprehensive assessments of each family's needs and challenges, collaborating with them to develop individualized support plans that address their unique circumstances.

* Education and Resources:

* Provide families with relevant information, resources, and referrals to community services and support networks that can assist them in achieving their goals and maintaining a healthy and sober lifestyle.

* Workshops and Trainings:

* Organize and facilitate workshops and training sessions for families on topics such as parenting skills, communication strategies, and substance abuse prevention, in collaboration with program staff and external partners.

* Case Management:

* Maintain detailed and accurate case records, documenting interactions with families, progress, and outcomes. Regularly review and update support plans based on ongoing assessment and feedback.

* Advocacy:

* Serve as an advocate for families, liaising between them and program staff to address any concerns, resolve conflicts, and ensure their voices are heard in program decision-making processes.

* Community, School, and Home Visits:

* Conduct home visits and provide services in the community or school to meet families' needs, such as conducting assessments, providing support, and connecting them with resources.

* Collaboration:

* Collaborate with program staff, community organizations, and service providers to coordinate resources and ensure a holistic approach to support the families' needs.

* Program Promotion:

* Participate in outreach activities and community events to promote the program and engage potential families, sharing information about the program's services and benefits.

* Evaluation and Reporting:

* Collect and analyze data related to family participation and outcomes, contributing to program evaluation and reporting efforts.

* Professional Development:

* Stay up-to-date with current research, best practices, and trends in the field of youth development, family support, and substance abuse prevention, seeking continuous professional growth and improvement.

* Transportation:

* As part of this role, there may be a requirement to provide transportation services for clients, ensuring safe and punctual transportation to and from programming. This includes responsibly driving clients while adhering to agency driving standards, maintaining a clean driving record, and prioritizing client safety and comfort during transit.

Qualifications/

Competencies:

* Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or a related field.

* Experience working with youth and families, preferably in a community-based setting.

* Knowledge of adolescent development, substance abuse prevention, and family systems theory.

* Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to establish rapport and build trusting relationships with diverse families.

* Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage families in a respectful and non-judgmental manner.

* Ability to assess needs, develop support plans, and connect families to appropriate resources and services.

* Familiarity with community resources and the ability to make appropriate referrals.
