Start your career in public service: The Division of Family & Children Services (DFCS) is seeking candidates for the position of Child Welfare Services Case Manager Supervisor
. This position is located at the DFCS office in Covington, Newton County, Georgia.

Pay Grade: L. This position has a designated non‑negotiable entry salary.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and plan work of assigned staff
  • Act as a job expert or organizational resource in assigned areas
  • Access and record client and community resource information
  • Collect evidence, interview witnesses, and prepare necessary reports in accordance with rules, regulations, state and federal laws
  • Compile records and prepare reports; perform follow‑up to determine the status of client’s case
  • Conduct home‑visit evaluations for information gathering to be used in assessments
  • Coordinate and monitor children in out‑of‑home placements and in‑home interventions
  • Coordinate and monitor services, including comprehensive tracking of client activities
  • Develop case plans that effectively utilize community resources to meet the needs of individual custodial clients
  • Identify placement resources for children within the foster care system
  • Initiate the legal process for guardianship, protective services, placement and/or adoption
  • Maintain required documentation and complete reports
  • Make immediate assessments regarding safety of clients and respond according to established protocol and policies
  • Perform initial investigations of protective services referrals to determine the appropriateness of protective services intervention
  • Work in collaboration with the legal system to ensure safety and achieve desired outcomes
  • Review, approve/disapprove, or render decisions on casework performed by staff
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree and three (3) years of job‑related case management experience
  • OR one (1) year of experience at the lower level Child Welfare Services Case Manager 3 (SSP
    072) or an equivalent position
  • Behavioral Science coursework (e.g., social science, psychology, sociology, child development, family studies, criminal justice, education, public health, public administration, nursing)
  • Case Management experience, including assessments, home evaluations, staffing, working with individuals, families, groups, organizations, or communication of goals of behavioral changes, child safety or child welfare; law enforcement experience in areas related to DFCS (family/domestic violence, investigations or interventions involving children, substance abuse, or crimes against persons)
Special Requirements
  • Must have reliable transportation, proof of auto insurance, a valid state‑issued driver’s license, an acceptable driving history record, and the ability to travel statewide
