Position: Child Welfare Services Case Manager Supervisor - 00161192

DHS Child Welfare Services Case Manager Supervisor

Location: DFCS office in Danielsville, Madison County, Georgia.

Pay Grade: L. This position has a designated special entry salary that is non‑negotiable.

Job Description: Supervises, guides, and instructs the work assignments of subordinate staff. Directs a social services unit that provides investigative and comprehensive case management for child abuse or neglect. Ensures immediate and follow‑up actions for at‑risk clients occur in a timely manner.

Responsibilities
  • Supervises and plans work of assigned staff
  • Serves as job expert or organization resource in assigned areas
  • Accesses and records client and community resource information
  • Collects evidence, interviews witnesses, and prepares reports according to rules, regulations, state and federal laws
  • Compiles records, performs follow‑up to determine client case status
  • Conducts home‑visit evaluations for information gathering used in assessments
  • Coordinates and monitors children in out‑of‑home placements and in‑home interventions
  • Coordinates and monitors services, including comprehensive tracking of client activities
  • Develops case plans that effectively utilize community resources to meet needs of individual custodial client
  • Identifies placement resources for children within foster care system
  • Initiates legal process for guardianship, protective services, placement or adoption
  • Maintains required documentation and completes reports
  • Makes immediate safety assessments and responds per established protocol and policies
  • Performs initial investigations of protective services referrals to determine appropriateness of intervention
  • Works in collaboration with legal system to ensure safety and desired outcomes
  • Reviews, approves/disapproves, or renders decisions on casework performed by staff
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree and three (3) years of case‑management experience; or
  • One (1) year of experience at the lower‑level Child Welfare Services Case Manager 3 (SSP
    072) or equivalent position

Behavioral Science degrees include social science, psychology, sociology, child development, family studies, criminal justice, education, public health, public administration, nursing.

Case‑management experience includes assessments, home evaluations, staffing, work with individuals, families, groups, or organizations, communication of behavioral change goals, child safety or welfare, and related law enforcement experience.

Special Requirements

Must have reliable transportation, proof of auto insurance, valid state‑issued driver’s license, acceptable driving record, and ability to travel statewide.
