General Description and Classification Standards
The Recreation Teen Coordinator is responsible for performing professional work in planning, budgeting and coordinating comprehensive teen focused recreational community-based programs. Duties include but not limited to directing activities; coordinating and conducting interviews; organizing special events and programs; and monitoring equipment and processing necessary paperwork. This is an experienced, skilled or technical level capable of carrying out most assignments typical of the position or specialty with limited guidance or review.
This level would be considered a promotional level and attainable by any incumbents in a work group who demonstrate the necessary knowledge, ability, and performance.
Works under very general supervision and reports to:
Center Facility Manager and direction from Teen Director. May work independently or with other skilled or semi‑skilled workers with responsibility for completion of assigned tasks.

The Teen Coordinator is responsible for planning, implementing, and overseeing programs and activities for teens. This role involves creating a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment that fosters personal growth, community involvement, and leadership development among teenagers. The Teen Coordinator will work closely with other staff members, volunteers, and community partners to deliver high‑quality programs that meet the needs and interests of teens.
Organizes special events and programs. Monitors equipment and maintenance requests from centers and oversees physical condition of facilities. Prepares various documentation, staff and community reports, supervises and reviews all scheduling of programs within recreation center. Plans and organizes daily work routine, as well as department‑wide planning, and establishes priorities for the completion of work in accordance with sound time‑management methodology. Coordinates teen sites and other activities with other sites within the department.
Plans and provides staff meetings on training, and teen related subjects. Strives to develop and maintain good rapport with all staff members. Attends required meetings, planning sessions and discussions on time. Participates in professional job‑related organizations on the state and national levels. Prepares and monitors budget for District. Maintains high standards of accuracy in exercising duties and responsibilities, executing immediate remedial action to correct any quality deficiencies that occur.
Follow all safety precautions necessary in operating equipment in a safe and efficient manner. Ascertains employee concerns regarding equipment, work standards and procedures, and evaluates and implements the most effective resolution.
Could be the only position in this specialty in a work group or could be part of a general or specialized work team. Typically has formal project management and/or skills development responsibilities.

Ensure programs are inclusive, engaging, and aligned with the interests and needs of teens. Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness, making adjustments as needed.
Community Outreach and EngagementBuild and maintain relationships with teens, parents, schools, and community organizations. Promote programs and activities through various channels, including social media, newsletters, and community events. Encourage teen participation and engagement in programs and activities.
