Disabled Veterans Outreach Program Specialist

• Provide services that include, but are not limited to, comprehensive assessment interviews, career guidance, individual employment plans, labor market information, and staff-assisted job search activities.
• Develop, coordinate, and/or facilitate workshops and presentations to applicants on job readiness or the most current job search techniques.
• Demonstrate job listings to assist clients with exploring available training and employment opportunities.
• Identify and evaluate barriers, exploring solutions to assist in removing such barriers while facilitating and referring customers to appropriate supportive services to promote self-sufficiency and employment.
• Perform job counseling with applicants to identify their abilities, needs, interests, and values in relation to job opportunities and career goals by utilizing a variety of assessments and evaluation tools.
• Provide career development and assessment services to clients to match their application skill sets to vacancies, match them to jobs, or provide job referrals.
• Conduct outreach with local veteran and community-based organizations, and educational institutions to ensure maximum assistance is available to veterans served; which will also require travel to remote locations to provide direct assistance to veteran customers.
• Responsible for consulting and coordinating with various representatives from federal, state, and local programs and employers to promote the development of entry-level and career job opportunities, job training, apprenticeships, and vocational counseling services for veterans.

• Candidate must be a qualified, eligible veteran
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited college or university; OR associate’s degree in a related field from an accredited college or university
  -and- two years of related experience; OR four years of related experience; OR two years of experience at the lower-level Employment Services Specialist 1 (SSP
  090) or position equivalent.
• Applicants must prove to be qualified veterans with a service-connected disability.
• Knowledge of the Workforce Innovation & Opportunity Act (WIOA), related to the Wagner-Peyser (WP) Act, or the Jobs for Veterans State Grant (JVSG) program.
• Two years of experience serving special needs populations with Significant Barriers to Employment.
• Two years of experience delivering Case Management services.
• Experience with delivery of Employment Services.
• Proficiency in utilizing Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
• Experience delivering presentations in groups.
• Knowledge of state and federal regulations.

Demonstrates expertise in career counseling and job readiness training, with a strong focus on serving veterans and individuals with significant barriers to employment. Proficient in case management and utilizing assessment tools to match clients with appropriate job opportunities.
