The DHS’ Division of Family & Children Services (DFCS) /Child Welfare is seeking candidates to fill the position of Social Services Program Consultant 3 (Child Abuse & Neglect Prevention Program Specialist), reporting to the Administrative Review Team Manager. This position is located at 47 Trinity Avenue in downtown Atlanta, Fulton County.

Job Description (General Summary): Under broad supervision the Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention (CANP) Program Specialist assists in the monitoring and management of Prevention and Community Support (PCS) programs and contracts. Works in cooperation with the PCS Director and CANP Unit Manager to provide contract procurement, development and management; technical assistance, contract compliance, and program monitoring to assigned CANP program contractors.

Provides training and technical assistance to vendors funded by PCS.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Monitors the programmatic and financial activities of PCS contractors to ensure contract compliance and quality programming based on state and federal guidelines.

  • Works with the Office of Procurement and Contracts and PCS in developing solicitations and contracts and monitoring vendor contracts for the Section.

  • Assists in the development, release, and application review of the Request for Proposal or Statement of Need funding opportunity for direct service providers.

  • Assists the PCS staff in coordinating the logistics for meetings, conferences, webinars, trainings, workshops, or other program activities.

  • Serves as the PCS representative on collaborative teams or work groups, as assigned by the CANP Unit Manager.

  • Maintains knowledge of current trends and developments in the field by attending appropriate conferences, webinars, meetings or reading appropriate literature and applies pertinent new knowledge to the PCS.

  • Other professional duties as assigned by the CANP Unit Manager

Preferred Qualifications:
Preference will be given to candidates who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, demonstrate some or all the following skills/experience:
