Pay Grade: J Under general supervision, gathers referral information from reporters via telephone interviews, written reports or face to face contacts; assesses referral information and makes a determination as to whether or not the situation meets Adult Protective Services (APS) criteria; provides intervention services if the situation does not meet APS criteria.

• Gathers referral information from persons making the maltreatment report via telephone interviews, written reports or face to face contacts.
• Assess APS referral information and make a determination as to whether or not the situation meets APS criteria.
• Provides Information and Referral Services on situations that do not meet APS criteria.
• Document pertinent referral information in Harmony in a thorough, accurate and clear manner.
• For reports meeting APS criteria, document as an Investigation.
• For reports that do not meet APS criteria, document as an Intervention.
• Clear the name of the person referred in Harmony to determine if there is an active case or history.
• Note findings in Harmony.
• Completes an acknowledgement letter to the reporter unless receipt of the letter is waived.
• “Save” the letter in the Central Intake Folder on the computer.

Has excellent oral, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university; OR One (1) year of experience at lower level APS Intake CM 1 (SSP
  180) or position equivalent.

• Preference will be given to candidates who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, demonstrate some or all the following education/skills/experience:
  Two (2) years’ experience as an APS Investigator.
• Experience working with a specific issue facing client populations such as family violence, crisis intervention, substance abuse, services to the elderly or disabled.
• Bachelor’s degree in a Human Services program or related field.
• Possession of a valid driver’s license and consistent access to a vehicle for required work-related activities.
