Job Description:

The Department of Public Health Injury Prevention Program received a grant from the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety. The overall purpose of the 55+ driver safety program is to:
Reduce the burden of motor vehicle injury for Georgian’s 55+ by promoting safe driving practices, improving roadway environments, encouraging healthy behaviors on and off Georgia roadways, and informing the professionals that serve this population of best practices for this vulnerable population.

Position Responsibilities:

Develop, implement, and evaluate injury prevention programming related to older driver safety and other injury prevention programming

Meet deliverables for program grants from the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety Provide statewide technical assistance and support to health departments and other program partners

Identify, coordinate, implement, and evaluate educational and training programs related to older drivers and highway safety

Evaluate the effectiveness of program interventions

Report on the status of grant objectivities

Recommend policies and procedures related to older driver safety in Georgia Prepare and administer grant deliverables

Administer contracts for services; and,Communicate and collaborate with state, federal, and community organizations to promote optimal implementation of older driving injury prevention programming.

Manage grant budget and Supervise program staff and interns

The program consultant is also responsible for convening and leading the Georgia Older Driver Task Team, as part of the Governor’s Strategic Highway Safety Plan (SHSP).
