AI Engineer
Overview
$120K base. $250K target. Profit sharing. Partner‑track from day one. We’re Runpoint, a two‑founder company with no departments or committees. We deploy to clients as teams of one, listening to find the real problem and building working software that delivers measurable results.
We’re hiring Operator Engineers—a role that blends business acumen, technical expertise, and a passion for shipping AI‑driven solutions.
What you’ll actually doEmbed with a client, understand their business, identify highest‑leverage problems, and build production AI systems that move the needle. You will manage AI agents, own outcomes, and balance terminal work with stakeholder interviews.
What we need- Built multiple AI‑powered products in the last 6 months.
- Comfortable speaking in a boardroom and in a terminal.
- Consulting, product, or strategy background that lets you dissect business problems.
- Technical depth to review PRs, draw architecture diagrams, read API docs, and know when to call reinforcements.
- A generalist who thrives outside a box.
- Relentlessly curious with side projects and weekend tinkering.
- People who need instructions for every next step.
- People who prefer a narrowly defined role.
- People who equate strategy with slide decks.
- People whose last side project was in college.
- People who believe seniority means you stop building.
$120K base as a 1099 contractor. Variable compensation tied to client revenue—realistic target of $250K+ in year one. Profit sharing scales as the firm grows. This is a partner‑track role. Early team members have disproportionate upside. Fully remote with quarterly in‑person meetings.
What you actually get- Max‑tier subscriptions to any AI tools you need—Claude Pro Max, OpenAI Pro, Gemini, etc.
- Real autonomy. No ticket queues, no sprint planning theater. You own the problem and solution.
- Work at the frontier. Pushing what’s possible with AI agents and automation, writing the playbook.
- Interesting problems. Every client presents a unique industry and constraints.
- A team that builds. Small crew of builders, no managers, collaborative sharpeners.
- Ground floor of something real. Two founders, early revenue, fast‑growing client base.
