Principal Engineer

We are seeking a Principal Web Engineer to serve as the technical leader for our web platform. This role is ideal for a highly experienced engineer who is passionate about building performant, secure, and user-centric websites, while also influencing long-term technical strategy. You will act as the subject matter expert for web development, partnering closely with product, architecture, and technology leadership to design and deliver world-class digital experiences.

• Lead all aspects of website development and support, serving as the primary technical authority.
• Act as the point of contact for design discussions, ensuring feasibility, scalability, and performance.
• Perform feasibility analysis for website designs and new feature proposals.
• Lead and influence development efforts across multiple web initiatives.
• Design, develop, and maintain modern web applications using React and React-based components.
• Collaborate with product and technology leadership to plan and prioritize work across technology pods.
• Research, evaluate, and recommend solutions for features suggested by product teams.
• Serve as the SME for all website development work, ensuring engineering excellence.
• Drive experimentation and A/B testing to improve conversion rates and user engagement.
• Actively research emerging web technologies and recommend innovative solutions.
• Partner with the architecture team to help define a long-term technical roadmap.
• Stay current with market trends and best practices in web development, sharing insights with the team.
• Design and present elegant, scalable solutions to product and technical gaps.
• Support product releases and triage production issues as needed.
• Work effectively in a fast-paced, agile environment with a strong focus on end-user experience.
• Leverage AI‑assisted development tools, including Git Hub Copilot, to enhance productivity.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field (required)

• 5+ years of hands‑on experience building websites using React
• 10+ years of overall professional experience
• Experience with multiple deployment strategies
• Experience with testing, experimentation, and optimization strategies for web applications

• Expert‑level knowledge of React, Next.js, and modern component‑based architectures
• Expert‑level experience with Tailwind CSS and scalable styling systems
• Advanced debugging skills with deep understanding of performance optimization and edge cases
• Strong knowledge of web security best practices
• Experience integrating payment solutions (Apple Pay, Google Pay, Pay Pal)
• Experience implementing social login solutions
• Proven ability to build highly performant, SEO‑optimized websites
• Expert‑level experience consuming REST APIs
• Working experience with GraphQL
• Experience implementing feature flagging and experimentation frameworks
• Experience designing and implementing design systems
• Advanced user of Git, Jira, Confluence, and related tools
• Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines and deployment workflows
