Staff Software Engineer – Core Marketing Platforms Team

Focus on highly efficient systems handling large volumes of real‑time data for marketing partners.

• Work with customers, stakeholders, and peers to develop project ideas and strategy, balancing requirements.
• Lead code quality and roadmap for the team, managing technical debt and improvement roadmaps.
• Participate and lead code review, design discussions, planning, and metric reviews.
• Write exemplary code, fostering quality standards.
• Drive engineering engagement practices such as Operational Excellence, Security, Quality with multi‑project impact.
• Own key initiatives, delegate and empower teammates, collaborate with engineering manager to improve delivery.
• Resolve root causes of problems, influence decisions of other teams, and eliminate bottlenecks.
• Build consensus when confronted with discordant views, and foster constructive dialogue.
• Stay current with market standards and open‑source frameworks.
• Support customers on an on‑call rotation as required.
• Show humility, pragmatism, self‑management, curiosity, and a passion for challenging the norm.
• Perform other duties as required by the company.

• Degree in Computer Science, related field, or equivalent work experience.
• 7+ years in backend software development.
• Strong experience with microservices architecture.
• Experience in technical leadership across multiple teams with technical strategy and organizational impact.
• High technical judgment, innovation, and execution, handling prioritization of open‑ended problems.
• Experience collaborating with product teams on tech debt, improvements, and developer quality of life.
• Proficiency with monitoring and alerting tools like Datadog; setting SLAs for backend performance.
• Experience with cloud‑based infrastructure (preferably AWS).
• Knowledge of CI/CD tools (preferably Buildkite), Git, Git Hub, Jira, Confluence.
• Ability to delegate, mentor, and empower individuals.
• Passion for quality and understanding of SDLC best practices, unit testing, testing tools, or integration testing.
• Strong ownership and track record of delivering technical outcomes.
• Experience with server‑side Java.
• Knowledge of AWS services such as SNS/SQS, Serverless (Step Functions, Lambdas).
• Understanding of relational/non‑relational databases, messaging queues, concurrency.
• Passion for the sports betting industry.

Salary range: $159,000 – $208,950 USD, depending on experience, location, and market demand.
