We are seeking an experienced Backend Architect located in the Atlanta area who can be onsite three days per week. This role will lead architectural direction and development efforts for custom, Java-based applications within the Mar Tech ecosystem.

Must Have

Qualifications:

• 10+ years of experience leading the design and development of scalable, secure, and high-performance backend systems for web and mobile applications.
• Deep expertise in cloud-native architectures, API design, microservices, and modern backend technologies, with a solid understanding of mobile ecosystem requirements.
• Proven ability to define and evolve backend architecture for mobile applications with a focus on scalability, reliability, and maintainability.
• Strong experience designing RESTful and GraphQL APIs optimized for mobile performance and responsiveness.
• Hands-on expertise architecting microservices and serverless solutions using cloud platforms such as GCP, AWS, or Azure.
• Experience leading deployment strategies using Terraform, GCP Deployment Manager, and container orchestration tools.
• Ability to manage cloud infrastructure components including VPC, S3, Cloud Watch, and cost-optimization tools such as Billing & Cost Explorer.
• Experience ensuring high availability and disaster recovery across backend systems.
• Strong, hands-on experience with GCP, Terraform, Jenkins, Git Hub Actions, and Splunk.
• Deep understanding of backend requirements for mobile applications, including performance, offline sync, and push notifications.
• Familiarity with API gateways, authentication/auth standards (OAuth2, JWT), and caching strategies.
