Company: SCS
Supervisor: Manager, Product Delivery
Location: Anywhere in the Southern Company footprint (e.g., Georgia, Alabama or Mississippi) with 4 days onsite per week
JOB SUMMARY:
Responsibilities include all aspects of application, integration and extensions development within the HR Technology footprint, production support for standard and custom components, solution delivery of new enhancements and bug fixes, and configuration responsibilities. This includes developing, supporting, and contributing to the design of integrations and extensions within Oracle HCM Cloud and other tools as needed, and between HCM and various enterprise systems, applications, and databases.
The role requires knowledge of data exchange, middleware, and API technologies to ensure seamless communication between systems, enabling streamlined business processes and data synchronization.
This position falls under the company’s Insider Threat Program and will have access to sensitive data, systems or assets. Enhanced personnel screening, including a background review, drug screen and psychological assessment, will be required if selected for this position.
Responsibilities:
Application/Integration Design and Architecture: Support stakeholders and architects in understanding business requirements and contribute to integration solution design that enables seamless data exchange between enterprise systems, internally and externally. Learn and apply integration patterns, data transformation rules, and middleware technologies under architectural guidance.
Application/Integration Development: Develop and implement applications, extensions & integrations using industry-standard development frameworks, integration platforms, middleware tools, and APIs. Write clean, reusable code and implement data mapping, transformation, and validation logic. Ensure integrations meet security, performance, and reliability standards. Development includes Oracle HCM Cloud components such as ATOM Feeds, Fast Formulas, BIP, VBCS and other frameworks, as well as languages like C# and Angular.
System Connectivity: Establish connectivity between systems, databases and applications through middleware solutions (ESBs, message queues, APIs). Configure and manage communication protocols, authentication mechanisms, and data encryption for secure data transmission.
Troubleshooting and Issue Resolution: Investigate and resolve application and integration issues, including data synchronization errors, connectivity problems, and performance bottlenecks. Collaborate with system administrators, developers, and external vendors to identify root causes and implement timely resolutions.
Integration
Testing and Quality Assurance:
Develop and execute test plans and scenarios to validate integration workflows, data integrity and system compatibility. Write unit and integration tests covering happy path, edge cases and failure scenarios, with results validated before deployment.Documentation and Knowledge Sharing: Create technical documentation including integration specifications, architectural diagrams, sequence diagrams, and troubleshooting guides. Maintain up-to-date README files and design artifacts; share knowledge and provide training on integration topics.
Stay Updated: Keep abreast of emerging integration technologies, HCM extensions, standards and best practices. Evaluate new tools and platforms, including AI-assisted development tools that can enhance integration capabilities.
AI Knowledge & Mindset:
The developer is expected to bring an AI-native mindset, defaulting to AI-assisted approaches to accelerate delivery, improve code quality, reduce repetitive work, and accelerate solutions. AI is a tool to amplify impact, not replace judgment.
Hands-on experience with AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Git Hub Copilot, Claude Code, Codex) used to prototype, generate boilerplate, draft documentation, review code, and identify issues.
Familiarity with prompt engineering fundamentals and crafting effective prompts for large language models (LLMs).
Awareness of AI limitations and responsible use, including understanding hallucinations, data privacy considerations, and applying critical review to AI-generated code before production.
Understanding of Generative AI and AI/ML concepts in software development, integration patterns, and automation.
Proactive exploration of AI tooling to improve productivity and outcomes.
Familiarity with Generative AI tools; deep AI/ML expertise is a plus and supported for growth.
HR/Business Process Knowledge: Experience with Hire-to-Retire processes (onboarding, position management, benefits, workforce structure, offboarding, compensation, absence, etc.) is advantageous and accelerates success. If not, demonstrate willingness and ability to learn quickly; ability to translate HR requirements into technical designs is valued.
