Job DescriptionThe Intelligent Sustainable Technologies Division within the Aerospace, Transportation and Advanced Systems Laboratory (ATAS) is seeking a motivated Graduate Intern, starting Fall 2026, to collaborate on research projects in robotics, artificial intelligence, and machine learning. The candidate will collaborate closely with full‑time engineers to address challenging robot perception and manipulation problems in complex and unstructured environments. Responsibilities include evaluating baselines, developing and training models, and running experiments on both simulated and real robot hardware.
Strong math and programming skills are essential, as well as prior experience in research environments. This role offers an exciting opportunity to conduct frontier robotics research and apply cutting‑edge techniques to solve real‑world challenges.
Minimum Qualifications
- Strong programming background and experience.
- Familiarity with Linux systems and Unix tooling.
- Experience training ML models (e.g., PyTorch, JAX).
- Pursuing a Master’s or Ph.D. degree in Computer Science, Robotics, Machine Learning, or a related field.
- 3.0 or higher GPA.
- Full‑time internship credit registration.
- Initiative and a strong work ethic.
- Prior research experience (academic, internship, personal projects).
- Knowledge and experience in robotics, computer vision, and controls.
- Experience with high performance computing environments.
- C++ programming experience.
- Strong math skills and theoretical knowledge.
- Ability to clearly communicate technical ideas.
