Engineering Manager, WMS

We process over $10B in commerce annually and operate across Order Management, Warehouse Management, Transportation, and Consumer Experience. We are rapidly scaling our engineering organization.

This is a hands‑on manager role leading two engineering teams focused on the Warehouse Management System (WMS) platform. The role owns people management, delivery, platform enhancement, operational excellence, and cross‑team alignment.

• Own the complete people management lifecycle for two engineering teams: hiring, 1:1s, performance management, and career development.
• Set sprint goals and delivery commitments for both teams and maintain a predictable cadence.
• Run team ceremonies (planning, retros, standups) to build trust and health.
• Drive teams’ contribution to ongoing platform enhancement initiatives within WMS.
• Translate business priorities into concrete team goals and technical work breakdown.
• Partner with product and other WMS engineering managers to sequence enhancement work.
• Own the reliability of the systems your teams maintain; build a production mindset (monitoring, failure modes, operational readiness).
• Lead your teams through incidents, from response to root‑cause resolution.
• Partner with peer WMS engineering managers to align priorities, standards, and technical approach across teams.
• Represent your teams in WMS‑wide planning and roadmap discussions.
• Keep your teams’ work coordinated with the rest of the WMS platform so priorities don’t drift out of sync.

• Strong engineering fundamentals with a technical background able to engage in design discussions, code review, and architecture decisions.
• People‑management fundamentals: experienced hiring, performance reviews, feedback, and career development.
• Delivery ownership: ability to run scrum teams through predictable, consistent delivery cycles and communicate progress to leadership.
• Comfort with ambiguity and ability to set direction when priorities shift.
• Production mindset: focus on reliability, monitoring, and failure modes for live operations.

• Experience with Elixir or another functional, concurrency‑oriented language.
• Experience managing multiple engineering teams within a larger platform organization.
• Background in warehouse management, logistics, or another real‑time operational system.

• Direct production experience with Elixir/OTP at scale.
• Managing teams building meaningful enhancements into a live system.
• Familiarity with warehouse operations concepts (picking, packing, inventory, labor allocation).

• 30 days: build relationships with teams, understand current state and delivery risk.
• 90 days: teams delivering on a predictable cadence with clear priorities.
• 6 months: teams ship measurable progress on platform roadmap and recognized as reliable leadership.
