Mainframe Software Engineer Senior

Position is only open to work in the Columbus, GA office. Candidates must currently live locally in the area to be considered. Candidates in Columbus will work a Hybrid work model of up to 3 days in office. At this time, we are unable to offer visa sponsorship for this position. Candidates must be legally authorized to work for any employer in the United States (or applicable country) on a full-time basis without the need for current or future immigration sponsorship.

Works throughout the software development life cycle and performs in a utility capacity to create, design, code, debug, maintain, test, implement and validate applications with a broad understanding of a variety of languages and architectures. Analyzes existing applications or formulates logic for new applications, procedures, flowcharting, coding and debugging programs. Maintains and utilizes application and programming documents in the development of code.

Recommends changes in development, maintenance and system standards. Creates appropriate deliverables and develops application implementation plans throughout the life cycle in a flexible development environment.

• Participate in all phases of the software development life cycle utilizing Agile Scrum methodology in the creation of new software products.
• Design, create, and deliver moderately complex program specifications for code development and support on multiple projects/issues with a wide understanding of the application/database to better align interactions and technologies.
• Provide broad and in-depth knowledge of analysis, modification, and development of complex code/unit testing in order to develop concise application documentation.
• Advise leadership on the design, development, and enforcement of business/infrastructure application standards to include associated controls, procedures and monitoring to ensure compliance and accuracy of data.
• Perform and advise on testing, validation requirements, and corrective measures for complex code deficiencies and provide systemic proposals.

• Work within an agile scrum team to design and deliver new products or capabilities in an iterative, continuous fashion.
• Develop detailed user stories, acceptance criteria, screen mock‑ups, flow diagrams, etc. outlining the solution to be implemented.
• Assist in gathering and verification of non‑functional requirements, review architectures and designs, adherence to standards, and develop and implement strategies for validating that the target requirements have been adequately addressed.
• Participate in all agile scrum ceremonies.
• Maintain project and system documentation.
• Advocate for the development team’s priorities, challenge scope‑creep, negotiate timelines with the product owner.
