Developer II

The Developer II, Application for Field Technology (Mobile) position within Gas Technology Delivery will work with limited supervision to design and develop custom applications to support the Mobile, EnRoute, and Rolling Office Technology portfolio that supports our Field Resources and is utilized by Southern Company Gas as well as the build and support of Southern Company Gas COTS applications. This includes the current portions of the CLICK system and all related applications as well as the EnRoute application suite and related components in field vehicles.

It is expected that this resource is a subject matter expert with deep technical knowledge within the Field Technology area. This role will complete projects which will include standard development using a variety of languages, web-based technologies, cognitive services, integration technologies, and native mobile applications.

This role reports to the Supv, IT (Mobile, Rolling Office).

• Develop solutions that leverage (when COTS system) rather than customization.
• Create and modify Technical Design documents.
• Collaborate with others to plan for coding and overall program development.
• Translate specifications to create code that meets performance expectations/coding requirements.
• Modify existing software to correct errors, to adapt it to new hardware, or to upgrade interfaces and improve performance based on specifications, with supervision.
• Troubleshoot, debug, maintain and improve existing software.
• Plan and participate in system testing as required.
• Develop technology solutions/doc for complex problems using deep technical expertise and creativity.
• Plan and participate in deployment activities to implement designed solutions.
• Maintain and follow production support processes focused on identification and mitigation of root cause.
• Flex to meet customer demands (production support and project work).
• Prioritize work and deliver on project commitments.
• Provide on-call support both solving issues independently as well as assisting other personnel
• Support and mentor less experienced personnel.
• Considerable interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively is essential.
• Ensure strategies are aligned with Technology Organization goals and strategies.

• Bachelor’s degree in MIS, Computer Science or a related field
• A deep, comprehensive knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle and development principles
• Interest in and passion for learning and working in a fast-paced environment
• Hands-on experience in developing and maintaining enterprise-level applications using Microsoft technologies like .NET, C#, and SQL
• Experience with frontend development platforms like Angular and React
• Experience with Azure and/or AWS cloud platforms.
• Familiarity with RESTful APIs, microservices architecture, and CI/CD pipelines
• Ability to handle multiple assignments and conflicting priorities
• Ability to work with business partners and peers of varying levels of technical proficiency
• Experience with all size projects, enhancement projects and production support
• Experience with various sized projects, enhancement projects and production support
