Technology Specialist - IT Service, Support and Operations
Open System is looking for a highly skilled Lead Developer with strong AWS and Python expertise to drive the design, development, and delivery of scalable cloud-based applications. Based in Atlanta, GA, this role will combine deep technical hands-on work with leadership responsibilities, guiding a team of developers while partnering with business stakeholders to deliver high-impact solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Technical Leadership: Lead architecture, design, and development of applications using Python and AWS services. Establish and enforce coding standards, development best practices, and design patterns. Conduct code reviews and ensure high-quality, maintainable code. Drive technical decisions and provide strategic direction for engineering initiatives.
- AWS Cloud Development: Design and implement scalable, secure, and cost-effective solutions on AWS. Work with AWS services such as Lambda, ECS, EKS, API Gateway, S3, DynamoDB, RDS, Aurora, Cloud Formation / Terraform (IaC). Optimize cloud infrastructure for performance, reliability, and cost.
- Software Development: Develop robust backend systems using Python (FastAPI, Flask, Django). Build and maintain RESTful APIs and microservices architectures. Lead the full software development lifecycle (SDLC).
- Dev Ops & Automation: Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines (Git Hub Actions, Jenkins, AWS Code Pipeline). Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting (Cloud Watch, Prometheus, Grafana). Collaborate closely with Dev Ops and infrastructure teams.
- Team Leadership: Mentor and coach a team of developers in Atlanta and remote locations. Assist with hiring, onboarding, and performance management. Foster a collaborative, high-performance team environment.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Work with product managers, architects, and business teams to define requirements. Translate business needs into scalable technical solutions. Provide status updates, risk assessments, and technical insights to leadership.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 8+ years of software development experience, including 2+ years in a lead role
- Strong hands-on expertise in Python
- Extensive experience with AWS cloud platform
- Proven experience designing microservices and distributed systems
- Strong understanding of REST APIs, system design, and scalable architectures
- Experience with Docker and Kubernetes (EKS preferred)
Preferred Qualifications:
- AWS Certifications (Solutions Architect, Developer Associate, or Professional)
- Experience in industries common in Atlanta (Fin Tech, Healthcare, Logistics)
- Familiarity with event-driven architectures (SNS, SQS, Kafka)
- Knowledge of security and compliance best practices
- Agile/Scrum experience
