Senior Director of Software Engineering

A rapidly growing technology organization is seeking a Senior Director of Software Engineering to lead a large, high-performing engineering organization responsible for delivering modern SaaS products and mission-critical business platforms.

Working closely with executive leadership, you will shape the organization's technology strategy, build and scale high-performing engineering teams, and lead the delivery of secure, scalable, cloud-native platforms that drive meaningful business results.

What You'll Do

• Lead multiple software engineering teams responsible for customer-facing and internal business applications
• Develop and execute the engineering strategy, technical roadmap, and organizational vision
• Build, mentor, and grow engineering leaders and software development teams
• Drive modernization efforts across cloud-native platforms, APIs, microservices, and distributed systems
• Partner closely with Product, Operations, Sales, and executive leadership to align technology investments with business priorities
• Improve engineering delivery, software quality, scalability, security, and operational excellence
• Establish engineering best practices around architecture, CI/CD, testing, observability, and release management
• Champion AI-assisted software development and identify opportunities to leverage emerging AI technologies across engineering workflows
• Build a culture centered on accountability, innovation, continuous improvement, and technical excellence
• Communicate technology strategy, risks, and progress to executive stakeholders

What We're Looking For

• 15+ years of progressive software engineering experience
• 7+ years leading large engineering organizations across multiple teams and disciplines
• Proven experience scaling engineering organizations and leading organizational transformation
• Strong background with modern software architecture, including:
• Microservices
• Cloud-native platforms
• Event-driven architectures
• Dev Sec Ops
• CI/CD
• Experience building AI-enabled engineering organizations and implementing AI development practices
• Strong understanding of software delivery, engineering metrics, and operational excellence
• Experience partnering with executive leadership and cross-functional business teams
• Exceptional communication and leadership skills
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience)

Preferred Experience

• Experience leading engineering teams in highly regulated or compliance-driven industries
• Background supporting complex enterprise transaction platforms
• Experience with cloud infrastructure, distributed systems, and large-scale SaaS environments
• Familiarity with AI/LLM technologies and practical enterprise implementations
