The Senior Automation Lead will be a highly skilled and hands-on quality engineering professional responsible for leading functional and API test automation initiatives across enterprise applications. This role requires deep expertise in Playwright and Karate, strong API testing capabilities, and the ability to design, develop, and execute scalable automation frameworks while ensuring high-quality software delivery. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with developers, business analysts, and stakeholders to drive test strategy, automation adoption, and continuous quality improvements.

Your role

Lead the design, development, and maintenance of robust test automation frameworks using Playwright and Karate for web and API applications.

Create, execute, and maintain automated and manual functional test cases to validate business requirements, system behavior, and end-to-end workflows.

Perform comprehensive API testing for REST and SOAP services using tools such as Karate, Postman, Swagger, and REST Assured, validating payloads, status codes, headers, and error handling.

Analyze business requirements, API specifications, and technical designs to identify test scenarios and ensure complete functional and integration test coverage.

Drive automation strategy, best practices, and quality standards while promoting test automation adoption across project teams.

Collaborate with developers, business analysts, product owners, and other stakeholders to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve defects throughout the software development lifecycle.

Lead regression, integration, and release testing activities, providing test execution reports, quality metrics, and risk assessments to project leadership.

Your skills and experience8+ years of Quality Engineering experience with a strong focus on test automation, functional testing, and API testing.

Hands-on expertise in Playwright and Karate, with proven experience developing and maintaining automation frameworks from the ground up.

Strong knowledge of REST and SOAP APIs, including API validation, service virtualization, and integration testing.

Experience with API testing tools such as Postman, Swagger, REST Assured, and Karate Framework.

Proficiency in scripting/programming languages such as Java, JavaScript, or Type Script for automation development.

Strong understanding of Agile methodologies, CI/CD pipelines, defect management processes, and software quality assurance best practices.

Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and leadership skills with the ability to mentor team members and drive automation excellence across distributed teams.

The base compensation range for this role in the posted location is $68,911 - $161,544.Capgemini provides compensation range information in accordance with applicable national, state, provincial, and local pay transparency laws.
