Lead Principal Platform Software Engineer

* Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) Networking is the foundation that enables customers to run mission-critical workloads at global cloud scale.

We're rearchitecting OCI's routing foundation from the ground up to support the next generation of networking services. This is a unique opportunity to influence the architecture of one of the world's largest cloud networking platforms. We're looking for engineers with strong computer science fundamentals, a deep understanding of networking and routing, and a passion for building large-scale distributed systems to join our technical leadership team.

Our team develops the core infrastructure that powers OCI Networking's data plane, solving complex challenges in routing, workload placement, and fleet management at cloud scale. You'll collaborate across OCI Networking and Infrastructure teams to shape the future of OCI Networking.

** Responsibilities*
* ** Requirements*
* + 10+ years of experience designing and building large-scale distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, networking software, or systems software.

+ Strong computer science fundamentals, including algorithms, data structures, concurrency, distributed systems, and software design.

+ Strong familiarity with network routing protocols; implementation experience is highly desirable.

+ Experience building and operating modern CI/CD pipelines, release automation, and deployment workflows for large-scale distributed systems.

+ Experience designing, building, and operating highly available, production-grade distributed services at scale.

+ Demonstrated technical leadership, including driving architecture, mentoring engineers, and leading cross-team technical initiatives.

+ BS or MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.

** Key Responsibilities*
* ** Platform Software Development:*
* + Set group-wide guardrails for platform interoperability, security controls, and client library governance.

+ Own cross-group programs (e.g., identity, config, API gateway standards) with measurable reliability/performance impact.

+ Establish shared observability frameworks and rollout policies adopted by numerous teams; manage deprecation risk.

** Software Development and Coding - Design, Testing, and Optimization:*
* + Leads project initiatives to design software solutions and identify and analyze requirements. Writes and defines foundational code for new projects or prototypes.

+ Adheres to and improves execution of all phases of the software development lifecycle; coaches engineers across teams or units to drive improvements.

+ Acts as a subject matter expert within the organization to develop and guide new software features and enhancements following design specifications, ensuring accessibility, and develops documents to clarify software design and code.

+ Leads process, architecture, and code reviews across projects and/or products/services to drive improvements.

+ Utilizes modern/emerging technologies to conduct debugging and troubleshooting to identify and fix highly complex software issues.

+ Leads strategic initiatives to optimize software testing (e.g., functional and non-functional), quality assurance processes, software error logging, monitoring, and observability for effective debugging.

+ Encourages innovation, research, and relevant industry practices to optimize performance across products and domains.

+ Resolves and may troubleshoot highly complex and systematic issues requiring innovation related to application programming interface (API) functionality and integration.
