Aviation Captain - Pilot in Command

Position Purpose

Act as Captain (pilot‑in‑command) on Home Depot owned/leased aircraft. May hold Captain qualification on two (2) types of aircraft. As pilot‑in‑command, responsible for the safety, security, and comfort of passengers and crew.

• Function as Pilot in Command on Home Depot aircraft worldwide, maintaining high technical competence and awareness of safe operations.
• Fully perform all flight‑related duties; provide guidance to flight personnel to ensure safe, efficient, and coordinated use of corporate aircraft.
• Conduct safe flight operations and comply with FAA regulations and Home Depot policies.
• Maintain understanding of normal and emergency operating procedures and all aircraft systems.
• Coordinate and complete all phases of assigned trips utilizing all available resources.
• Ensure all crew members are fully qualified, properly rested, and prepared for flight.
• Follow up with Flight Operations, communicating estimated and actual times of arrival, and status of aircraft, crew, passengers.
• Train co‑pilots to assist them in preparing for future Captain openings.

• Reports to Chief Pilot.
• No direct supervisory responsibility.

• Typical overnight travel more than 50% of the time.

• Mostly seated, occasional moving or lifting of light items.

• Comfortable environment with moderate exposure to dust, fumes, and odors.
• Typical overnight travel 20%–50% of the time.

• Age 18 or older.
• Legally permitted to work in the United States.

• Associate’s degree preferred.
• Five to eight years of experience preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years as a professional pilot flying jet aircraft with demonstrated adherence to aviation safety and flight standards.
• Minimum of 4000 hrs, 2000 hrs jet, 2000 hrs pilot‑in‑command.

• Associate’s degree or equivalent in a related field.
