Responsibility

The Marine Operator is responsible for the control of the ship’s stability, position and draught, and for assisting with stability calculations. The operator ensures that day‑to‑day activities, for themselves and their peers, are performed safely, in a healthy manner, and with an acceptable environmental impact.

Specific Duties
  • Stay informed about the locations of supply vessels, stand‑by vessels and helicopters, and record these in the ship’s logbook.
  • Monitor cargo and ballast control panels.
  • Monitor inert gas pressure and oxygen content of cargo tanks.
  • Monitor all marine alarms and, when triggered, carry out prescribed actions.
  • Check that ballast and cargo valves function properly; log the check in the vessel’s logbook and report any faults to the Lead Marine Operator.
  • Carry out duties and tasks specified in the Emergency Response Plan.
  • Follow up on Permit‑to‑Work (PTW) issuing, execution and closure as required.
  • Ensure daily stability calculations are performed.
  • Perform other work as directed by the superior and duties per documented Company Procedure, including administrative or operational activities.
HSE Responsibility

Maintain a high degree of safety awareness, lead by example, observe and report unsafe activities, conditions or situations, and use the ‘Stop Work’ policy when necessary.

Qualifications
  • General education, certificates and experience: endorsement/seaman’s book complying with STCW rule II/1 and title of Deck Officer.
  • Endorsement/seaman’s book complying with IMO Circ. 1079(28) – item 6.4 and title of Ballast Control Operator.
  • Experience from tankers and/or mobile units.
  • Fluent English.
