Responsible to ensure that the administration of all CDL Examinations are conducted in accordance with applicable local, state and Federal rules and regulations as well as established Company policies and procedures.
Qualifications- Valid CDL Class A Commercial Driver’s License with all endorsements as required by the Company.
- Clean driving record with no moving violations within the last 3 years and a minimum of 3 years over the road or local driving experience or other criteria acceptable to the Company.
- Pass and continuously maintain a U.S. Department of Transportation (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). issued in accordance with all regulations and recommendations of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration.
- Pass DOT drug screen and hair follicle test (HFT) and agree to post-accident, random and suspicion-based drug testing.
- Current possession or ability to obtain all required local, state, and Federal approvals to be certified as a CDL Examiner.
- High school diploma, GED or higher, and demonstrated ability to communicate effectively using verbal/non-verbal and written skills.
- Demonstrated physical, intellectual and leadership ability to perform the duties outlined within this job description.
- Successful completion of a company approved pre‑employment drug screen is required of all candidates as part of the hiring process.
- During the administration of the CDL examination, CDL examiners are considered quasi-state employees and are responsible for administering the CDL exams as prescribed by applicable state and Federal regulations, policies and procedures as well as policies and procedures established by the Company.
- Ensure safe driving and operation of testing equipment during exam and may take over the controls of the test equipment if the vehicle is being driven in an unsafe manner or to avoid an accident.
- Maintain the reliability and integrity of the CDL exams to include Pre‑trip inspection, Basic Skills, and Over the Road Skills and the security and integrity of all testing materials and testing manuals issued by applicable authorities. Immediately report any testing discrepancies or inaccuracies to the employee’s immediate supervisor.
- Attend all CDL refresher classes and be conversant with all updates in the testing procedures. Maintain public and personal credibility as a third‑party state examiner.
- Be professional and rational at all times and maintain a high ethical standard in performing all assigned duties. Treat all Company associates, students, test subjects and third parties with dignity, respect and professionalism. Adhere to all policies and procedures established by the state monitor and the third‑party exam facility.
- Submit complete, correct and timely evaluations, forms, and required reports associated with CDL third‑party testing.
- Wear appropriate uniform and be neat and clean while on duty.
- Ensure testing equipment is always properly maintained.
- Assist with the training department when available in accordance with applicable regulations. Never administer a CDL exam to an individual to whom training was provided.
- Provide regular, reliable, and predictable work attendance. Perform all other duties and responsibilities assigned by Company Management.
