As a growing operation with a strong reputation in the industry, we are seeking a results-driven Fleet Manager to lead daily fleet operations, optimize performance, ensure regulatory compliance, and drive cost efficiency.
Job SummaryOversees all aspects of fleet operation including vehicle maintenance, secondary equipment, driver support, regulatory compliance, and cost management. Directly supervises onsite mechanics and a fleet assistant. This role requires strong leadership, communication, and time management skills.
Key ResponsibilitiesFleet Operations & Maintenance
- Oversee daily movements and operation of trucks, trailers, and secondary equipment
- Develop and manage maintenance programs
- Coordinate repairs, service schedules, and procurements
Driver Management
- Partner with HR/Safety teams to support driver onboarding, training, and coaching
- Assist in ensuring that drivers comply with company policies and DOT regulation
- Address driver concerns related to equipment and performance
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure full compliance with DOT, FMCSA, and other regulatory entities
- Maintain accurate records for inspections, maintenance, and driver logs
- Assist in developing and implementing safety programs and initiatives
Expense Management
- Partner with stakeholders to manage fleet-related expenses such as maintenance, repairs, and leasing
- Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising safety or service quality
- Coordinate accurate invoicing with accounting team and ensure timely payment to vendors
- Track and analyze performance metrics (idling costs, driver efficiency, fuel purchases, etc.) to assist in budgeting
- Negotiate and manage relationships with vendors
- Maintain invoicing records
- Oversee asset lifecycle management including procurement, replacement, and disposal
- Evaluate and implement new technologies to improve efficiency and safety
- Experience in an asset-based trucking company
- Strong knowledge of DOT/FMCSA regulations
- Proficiency in fleet management software; specifically Samsara is a plus
- Strong organization, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Experience managing maintenance programs
- CDL not required, but preferred
- 3 years of Fleet Management experience or equivalent
- Must be able to lift and/or move 50 lbs (e.g., tools, parts, equipment)
- Ability to climb in and out of trucks and trailers
- Comfortable working in varying weather conditions
- Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, and reach
- Visual and hearing acuity
- Manual dexterity to operate computers, tablets, tools, and equipment
