Job SummaryDrive State owned vans providing safe and efficient transportation for the GT community to various drop-off locations on and off campus. Assist passengers with entering and exiting the vehicle, including passengers with disabilities. Performs routine pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections. Refuels vehicles, drops off and picks up vehicles for maintenance work, and makes timely reports of accidents and incidents. This position will interact on a consistent basis with: supervisor, other drivers, and passengers (students, faculty and staff)
Responsibilities- Job Duty 1 - Drives State owned vans and fleet vehicles, providing safe and efficient transportation for the GT community to various drop-off locations on and off campus.
- Job Duty 2 - Assist passengers with entering and exiting the vehicle, including passengers with disabilities.
- Job Duty 3 - Utilizes transit technology in following GPS directions and logging ridership details.
- Job Duty 4 - Performs routine pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, refuels vehicles, drops off and transports vehicle to/from maintenance shop.
- Job Duty 5 - Makes timely accident and incident reports.
- Job Duty 6 - Performs courier duties and works with special events as needed.
- Job Duty 7 - Perform other job related duties as assigned.
- High school diploma, GED Certificate or Vocational School Diploma
Required Qualifications
- Must have and maintain a State of Georgia Class C or CDL (A, B or
C) driver's license. The Stingerette driver position requires the following physical and mobility abilities: stepping up into and out of a vehicle multiple times in an hour; lift up to 25 lbs; open, close, or pull shut a vehicle door or sliding door; assist a passenger in a wheelchair or crutches getting into and out of a vehicle; provide assistance harnessing a wheelchair.
Experience
- Two years of job related experience
- Previous experience driving passenger vans, shuttles, campus transportation, paratransit, or similar passenger vehicles.
- Experience transporting students, faculty, staff, customers, or passengers in a high-volume environment.
- Experience assisting passengers with wheelchairs, crutches, mobility devices, or other accessibility needs.
- Strong knowledge of safe driving practices, vehicle inspections, and basic fleet maintenance procedures.
