As a Shuttle Bus Operator, your primary responsibility will be to ensure the safe and efficient transportation of airport passengers to and from airport parking facilities. This role requires a customer-centric approach, with an emphasis on providing excellent service through friendliness, helpfulness, and professionalism.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities Customer Service Excellence:
  • Greet customers in a friendly and welcoming manner.
  • Provide outstanding customer service by assisting passengers with boarding, answering inquiries, and addressing concerns professionally.
Safe Driving:
  • Drive a 14(+) passenger bus to and from designated locations as specified by management.
  • Operate the shuttle bus defensively, exercising caution, and strictly adhering to all traffic laws.
License Maintenance:
  • Maintain a valid driver's license with three or fewer points on the record.
Vehicle Inspections:
  • Perform daily pre/post trip inspections of the shuttle bus.
  • Document any damages or defects, and record fuel levels and mileage accurately.
Maintenance Communication:
  • Identify warning indicators on the bus and promptly communicate maintenance needs to the maintenance department.
Ticketing and Documentation:
  • Provide customers with written row tickets for efficient boarding and disembarking.
  • Complete customer incident forms in the event of accidents or incidents.
Communication

Skills:
  • Communicate professionally via radio with dispatchers, following instructions for staging, pick-up, and reporting the status of ground transportation.
Route Familiarity:
  • Learn and follow prescribed routes around the airport to ensure timely and efficient transportation.
Assisting Passengers:
  • Assist customers with wheelchair lift operations onto and off the bus.
  • Aid customers with special needs in handling luggage, including pushing and lifting.
Survey Distribution:
  • Distribute and retrieve customer survey cards.
  • Pass out literature for the City of Atlanta while actively engaging with customers in the ground transportation area.
Schedule Management:
  • Check the drivers’ schedule to determine the assigned bus for the shift.
Technology Utilization:
  • Conduct pre-trip inspections using the Zonar Device if equipped or utilize the Pre/Post Trip manual sheet for non-equipped units.
  • Enter passenger totals onboard the bus into the Zonar handheld device.

Qualifications & Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Education/Experience

    Required:

    High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • License Requirement:

    Per DOT Regulations, you will be required to have and maintain a valid CDL Class A, B or C Driver’s License depending on the location's hiring needs, with Passenger Endorsement if you will be responsible for operating shuttle buses with a passenger capacity of 15 passengers or more.
  • DOT Medical Card:

    A Medical Examiner’s Certificate (DOT Medical Card) is required.
  • Availability to Work:

    Special shift requirements, if any, will vary depending on a location's hiring needs. If applicable, availability to work 3rd shift and/or weekends may be a requirement.
