Inventory Specialist

Location: Atlanta, GA
Starting Pay: $18.98 per hour, 3rd shift 11:00pm-7:30am

Job Summary

The Inventory Specialist supports hospital supply chain services by maintaining appropriate inventory levels in assigned areas, accurately picking and staging supply orders, completing scheduled inventory counts, and ensuring deliveries match receipts and documentation. This role requires strong attention to detail, comfort working in both office and warehouse settings, and a consistent customer-service mindset.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain adequate inventory levels in assigned areas by stocking, restocking, rotating product, and staging supply orders for delivery.
  • Pick, pack, label, and stage requisitions accurately; prioritize urgent requests and stockouts.
  • Conduct scheduled physical inventory counts for supply cabinets, par locations, and warehouse inventory; investigate variances and document adjustments.
  • Audit deliveries against packing slips, receipts, and documentation to confirm correct items, quantities, lot numbers, and any required tracking.
  • Use materials management systems to review inventory levels, transaction history, usage trends, backorders, and pending replenishment.
  • Perform maintenance, exchange, and transport activities for specialty carts and kits including code carts, surgical carts, and respiratory boxes, following site procedures.
  • Deliver supplies to assigned locations; verify drop-off accuracy and obtain required acknowledgements.
  • Communicate with internal customers and team members regarding order status, replenishment schedules, and service concerns.
  • Maintain organized storage locations and a clean, safe work area; follow all safety, infection-control, and documentation requirements.
  • Support related finishing and support services as needed, including mail preparation, book binding, laminating, and other assigned tasks.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of 6 months experience in a related position; healthcare, hospital logistics, or supply chain experience preferred.
  • Experience using a materials management or inventory system preferred.
  • Ability to follow written procedures, maintain accurate records, and meet service-level expectations.
  • Strong attention to detail with clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • Reliable attendance and ability to work an overnight schedule, including every other weekend.
Essential Functions
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position and also move or traverse throughout the facility as needed to complete counts, deliveries, and customer support.
  • Must be able to operate, activate, and use office and warehouse equipment such as computers, printers, copiers, scanners, hand trucks, pallet jacks, and related materials-handling tools.
  • Must be able to frequently move, transport, and position supplies and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to communicate, discern, and exchange accurate information in writing and orally with customers, clinical staff, and team members.
Work Environment
  • Often work indoors but may sometimes work outdoors.
  • Work around warehouse equipment and machinery on a daily basis.
  • Sometimes exposed to contaminants such as cleaning solvents.
  • Sometimes exposed to very hot or very cold temperatures; work spaces may not be temperature controlled.
  • Work near others and often share the same workspace.
  • Occasionally exposed to sounds and noise levels that may be distracting or uncomfortable.
