Job Overview
Area Manager – responsible for shipping, receiving, storing of materials or finished goods. Hours Monday to Thursday 2:30PM to 11:30PM.
Responsibilities- Support all safety programs ensuring a safe work environment.
- Review forecasts and determine labor needs to meet daily, weekly, and monthly objectives.
- Meet with the team daily to balance labor, ensuring a balanced and efficient shift while meeting daily deadlines.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and elimination of non‑value‑added activities.
- Ensure proper training of staff to meet customer demand.
- Support, mentor, and motivate the hourly workforce.
- Ensure materials received from vendors are delivered to inventory, and finished goods are packaged per specification and shipped in a timely manner.
- Meet quality objectives while operating within the allocated budget and meeting delivery deadlines.
- Manage inventory control to maintain accountability of materials and goods.
- Establish appropriate communication (content and frequency) with the team to align focus with organizational and customer needs.
- Establish or modify operational methods and procedures as needed.
- Recommend changes to policies and procedures to improve the area of responsibility or the organization as a whole.
- Maintain documentation and prepare reports reflecting the effectiveness and efficiency of department activities.
- Establish and manage goals for self and/or the team that meet or exceed departmental objectives.
- Collaborate with peers, senior management, and field personnel to problem‑solve and resolve issues among functional areas, other sites, or customers and the company.
- Maintain product traceability systems, utilizing WMS/Oracle, to support customer and quality requirements.
- Ensure health, safety and cleanliness of the work environment; oversee regular inspection and maintenance of equipment.
- Other tasks and responsibilities as assigned.
- Minimum ten years of experience in a warehouse/distribution environment.
- Minimum three years of supervisory experience.
- Experience implementing inventory control systems, distribution operations programs and continuous improvement programs.
- Strong familiarity with Microsoft Office applications.
- Prior WMS experience.
- Knowledge of federal and local OSHA safety regulations related to warehousing and shipping environments.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Customer‑centric mindset and commitment to build and maintain customer relationships.
- Energetic, self‑motivated, and quick‑thinking with a positive attitude.
- Desirable:
Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) or equivalent education and experience; experience with Oracle or comparable supply‑chain/logistics systems; experience with a warehouse management system.
Warehouse environment. The incumbent may walk, sit, kneel, crouch, crawl and lift up to 40lbs. Noise level is moderate to high. Must be flexible to work varying schedules, hours, and overtime as needed.
