Building Custodian (up to 19 Hours/Week)

Salary: $20.75 per hour

The City of Attleboro Wastewater Department seeks a part‑time Building Custodian who, under the general supervision of the Superintendent, is responsible for performing custodial duties and minor maintenance to ensure the Wastewater facilities and surrounding grounds are maintained in a clean, safe, and orderly condition.

• Perform sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, scrubbing, waxing, and buffing floors.
• Clean restrooms, windows, walls, drinking fountains, and other building areas.
• Remove trash and recyclables.
• Perform exterior grounds maintenance, including trimming hedges and shrubs, watering plants, raking leaves, and snow and ice removal.
• Complete minor building repairs, replace light bulbs, paint, move furniture and equipment.
• Set up rooms for meetings and events.
• Distribute mail and supplies; provide building access to contractors.
• Perform related duties as required.

Minimum qualifications include:

• High school diploma or equivalent and two years of custodial, janitorial, or property maintenance experience, or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Valid driver’s license preferred.
• Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting up to 75 pounds occasionally.
• Working knowledge of custodial methods, maintenance equipment, and safe work practices.
• Basic computer skills and the ability to communicate and work effectively with City staff, vendors, and the public.
