Overview
Student Affairs is excited to begin the search for a Building Specialist! Building Specialists assist with operations and events at the Melton Student Center and various locations on campus through organization, set-up, and cleaning. Position will be required to work non-traditional hours. Working hours will occur between 6:00 am - 5:00 pm.
Responsibilities- Perform general custodial duties, clean multiple levels of stairwells and/or perform housekeeping duties at building facilities to accommodate event guests.
- Perform upholstery and carpet cleaning.
- Identify and report maintenance problems.
- Stock supply closets at various locations.
- Clean multiple restrooms.
- May operate commercial laundry facilities.
- May clean multiple elevators.
- Operate support machinery to include service vehicles, lift devices, and various power and floor maintenance tools.
- Assist in the organization and set-up of events at various locations at the University to include, but not limited to the set-up and breakdown of tables, chairs, audio visual equipment, tents, and other specialized items.
- Operate a two-way radio.
Level I
- Ability to read and write
Level II
- Ability to read and write plus 2 years of experience in custodial floor care techniques
- Driver License Required

EXPERIENCE:
Yes, When a candidate has the required education, but lacks the required experience, they may normally apply additional appropriate education toward the experience requirement, at a rate of one (1) year relevant education per year of required experience.

Qualifications:
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- 3 years of relevant experience in custodial care techniques.
- Basic physical and mental skills and abilities, including use of hand tools, power tools, or other equipment. Basic math and reading skills.
- Ability to climb up and down ladder with a spotter present.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
