Area Supervisor - Weekend Shift

We're looking for an Area Supervisor to lead a team of approximately 8 employees supporting a high-volume shredding operation in Auburn.

This is a hands-on people leadership role
, but you don't need to be a maintenance expert. Your primary responsibility is making sure the team is safe, productive, organized, and has what they need to do their jobs
.

You'll be the person on the floor making sure employees understand the priorities, equipment and resources are available, work is being completed correctly, and issues are addressed before they become bigger problems.

The ideal candidate has 2–3 years of supervisory experience and is comfortable leading hourly employees in an industrial environment. Previous non-ferrous scrap/recycling experience is a plus.

There are openings on both shifts
:

Day Shift: 3:00am–3:00pm
Night Shift: 3:00pm–3:00am

You'll work three 12-hour shifts and have four full days away from work every week

The operation runs approximately 20 hours per day, Friday through Sunday, so this supervisor plays an important role in keeping the weekend operation organized and productive.

• Supervise approximately 8 hourly employees
• Set clear expectations and provide direction throughout the shift
• Make sure employees understand their priorities and responsibilities
• Stay engaged with the team and address issues as they arise
• Recognize good performance and address performance concerns
• Work with HR when employee issues require additional support
• Promote a positive, safe, and team-oriented work environment

• Make sure employees have the equipment, information, and resources they need to do their jobs
• Monitor production, quality, housekeeping, and overall performance
• Keep the yard and work areas organized
• Communicate weekend priorities and operational strategies
• Identify problems and help determine the appropriate solution
• Coordinate with Plant leadership and weekday supervisors for a smooth handoff

• Make safety a daily priority
• Ensure employees follow established safety programs and procedures
• Address unsafe behaviors or conditions
• Maintain expectations for housekeeping and quality
• Hold employees accountable while maintaining a positive working environment

You don't need to be the maintenance expert, but you do need to recognize when something isn't right and make sure it gets addressed.

• Monitor planned versus emergency maintenance work
• Communicate equipment issues to the appropriate team
• Help prioritize operational needs
• Work with the maintenance team to keep production moving
• Track issues that need follow-up

The position description also calls for maintaining production, housekeeping and quality standards, coordinating with weekday supervisors, monitoring maintenance work orders, and addressing employee performance issues.

• Basic computer skills, including Excel, Outlook, and Word
• High school diploma or GED

Previous non-ferrous scrap metal/recycling experience is preferred, but not required.
