Part-time Building Attendant - Friend Park​/Norcross

Class Summary

This is a part‑time position with a maximum of 1,508 hours per year and is not eligible for paid holidays, leave, or benefits.

The Part‑time Building Attendant position is located at Best Friend Park in Norcross, Georgia. The role involves performing general janitorial and landscaping duties, and setting up/breaking down for events, classes, and programs. The ideal candidate must have good interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to monitor activities inside and outside of the facility.

• Opening and closing the facility, locking/unlocking doors, setting the security alarm, and performing daily checks of all points of entry to ensure the safety of the building and public
• Maintaining facility and grounds by sweeping and mopping floors, removing trash, vacuuming, and performing related custodial duties
• Setting up and arranging the gymnasium and activity room for classes, rentals, and special events
• Providing administrative support by maintaining maintenance records, safety documents, and basic reports
• Maintaining facility equipment
• Serving as rental attendant by providing excellent customer service while monitoring usage
• Completing data entry, communicating via email, completing basic weekly/monthly reports, and ordering supplies
• Performing other duties of a similar nature or level as assigned

This position requires continuous interaction with the public and co‑workers.

• This job is a civilian position in either a public safety department or in Information Technology with close ties to public safety. Due to the sensitive nature of this position, a public safety background is required which may include motor vehicle & criminal histories, credit check, and fingerprinting.
• This job may require on‑call rotation and emergency after hours, weekends, and/or holidays.

The hourly rate is $16.80.

• High school diploma or GED (or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential duties).
• Valid driver's license.

• One year of janitorial/custodial, landscaping, building maintenance and/or customer service experience.
• Knowledge of basic janitorial duties.
• Knowledge of landscaping duties.
• Knowledge and use of computer equipment and software.
• CPR and First Aid & AED certification within 6 months of employment.
