Job ResponsibilitiesUnder general supervision, performs semi‑skilled repairs and preventative maintenance to ensure public health district facilities remain safe, functional, and compliant.
Supports daily clinic operations and health safety standards through proactive facility preservation and operational support. Travel will be required within our ten‑county district.
Primary Responsibilities- Performs basic fixes that do not require a licensed contractor, such as replacing light ballasts, rewiring simple outlets or switches, and repairing leaky faucets or flush valves.
- Patches and/or paint drywall, replace damaged ceiling tiles, repair or replace door hardware (locks, handles, closures), and fix floor or trim.
- Conducts routine servicing such as changing air filters, cleaning vents, checking belt tension to fluid levels on HVAC systems to ensure units are running efficiently.
- Conducts and maintains monthly inspection/maintenance logs for district vehicles and facilities.
- Manage exterior debris removal and minor landscaping for facilities.
- Assists with room setups for community health events, clinics, or district office events.
- May assist IT with the transport of equipment to various district facilities.
- Assists with setting up and/or moving furniture as needed.
- Prepare, train, and respond to Public Health Emergencies as directed within the scope of your work. Expectations:
Complete a personal emergency plan. Participate in emergency preparedness trainings, drills, and exercises, as directed. In the event of a public health emergency, participate in the emergency response activities, within DHEART Team assignment or otherwise as directed. - Performs other duties as assigned.
High school diploma/GED and one (1) year of experience in building repairs and maintenance or in the specific area of assignment.
Note:
Some positions may require area‑specific certifications/licenses.
- Proficient operating a variety of hand and power tools, diagnostic equipment, and grounds‑keeping machinery safely and effectively.
- Demonstrated knowledge of carpentry, plumbing, and electrical (including HVAC systems) repair.
DPH accepts educational credential recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and/or the US Department of Education (DOE). The candidate selected for this position may be subject to pre‑employment drug screening and a criminal background check.
