Job SummaryThe Environmental Services Technician (EVS) is responsible for executing daily duties that establish and maintain a safe, clean, hygienic, and aesthetically pleasing learning, research, and care environment. The technician will interact with faculty, staff, students, and campus visitors and will ensure that basic principles of cleanliness, environmental hygiene, and infection prevention are applied in all tasks. This position is located on the Augusta University campus (Health Sciences Campus, 1120 15th Street, Augusta, GA 30912;
Summerville Campus, 2500 Walton Way, Augusta, GA 30904).
- Floor cleaning: Clean, disinfect, and vacuum all common area floors according to the established schedule or as directed by a supervisor. Ensure floors are free of spills, stains, and spots; shampoo carpets; buff, strip, and refinish tile floors as directed.
- Common area cleaning: Thoroughly clean lobbies and public restrooms daily; vacuum carpeted areas, sweep/mop tile floors, and buff. Clean glass in lobbies and entrance ways daily and perform spot cleaning as needed.
- General cleaning: Spot‑clean offices, vacuums carpeted areas, empty trash daily, dust, clean windows, blinds, and sills. Clean conference rooms and lounges daily, following the schedule, and maintain cleanliness of lobbies and public restrooms.
- Restroom cleaning: Disinfect fixtures (toilets, sinks, high‑touch points, mirrors) and stock paper products and soap. Keep restrooms free of dust, debris, and spills.
- Lab cleaning: Clean and disinfect lab floors; remove trash per established schedules; manage bio‑hazardous waste containers and replace them when 3/4 full. Remove red liners from trace carts and disinfect as required.
- Event support: Assist in event setup, breakdown, and other EVS related duties assigned by a supervisor.
- Equipment use: Use and maintain assigned equipment, report condition to a supervisor, and clean equipment after each use.
- Follow established policies, dress code, and attendance policies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent from a recognized state or federal accrediting organization.
- OR one year of experience in a similar position in a commercial, hospital, or industrial environment.
- Industrial or commercial cleaning experience.
- Valid state driver’s license.
- Knowledge: Solid work history; proficiency with Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases.
- Skills: Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills; excellent customer service and verbal communication skills.
- Abilities: Work well in a team environment; maintain confidentiality; perform to established standards; prioritize work to promote a clean environment and patient, staff, and visitor safety; follow oral instructions and written procedures.
- Shift: Days – Monday‑Friday.
- Pay band: 1.
- Minimum hourly pay: $15.00/hr, with salary commensurate with qualifications within the established range.
