Custodian

Responsibilities

• Provide a clean and safe learning environment for students by regularly cleaning school classrooms, bathrooms, hallways, cafeteria/kitchen, gym, and other office and school-use spaces.
• Handle spills and other issues that arise.
• Report directly to the Facilities Manager.
• Operate safely in a K-8th grade urban Christian school environment.
• Pass a complete and extensive background check.
• Demonstrate a strong work ethic, reliability, self-motivation, and responsibility.
• Possess dependable transportation for work duties.

• Prior experience cleaning commercial properties.
• Experience in school or hospital facility cleaning in a busy environment is a plus.
• Knowledge of cleaning supplies, materials, chemicals, and equipment for floors, walls, fixtures, and furniture.
• Ability to use cleaning supplies and equipment efficiently and safely.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions with minimal supervision and work as part of a team.
• Physically capable of regularly lifting, carrying or transferring 40 lbs and occasional lifting or moving of 100 lbs; continuous standing, walking, squatting, bending, twisting, pushing, pulling, reaching with hands and arms; using hands and fingers to operate tools and controls.
• Capable of working off a six-foot high stepladder.
• Experience in wood working, house repairs, and painting appreciated.
• Open to semi-retired individuals.
