College / Department Information

Facilities Services Division maintains a safe, healthy, and efficient campus environment. Responsibilities include interior and exterior facilities support, construction, space management, and environmental services.

Job Summary

This position performs general maintenance and repairs throughout university facilities, inspecting and maintaining environmental systems, plumbing, electrical, lighting, carpentry, and surface finishes. The role includes training, supervising lower‑level staff, handling on‑call duties, and ensuring that all work complies with safety and operational standards.

Responsibilities
  • Perform preventative maintenance on HVAC, plumbing, electrical, lighting, and other building systems.
  • Respond to and complete preventative maintenance work orders, troubleshoot HVAC and allied equipment, consult specifications, and purchase required parts.
  • Document corrective actions, maintain work‑request records, and report equipment failures to supervisors.
  • Conduct quarterly, mid‑annual, and annual preventative maintenance schedules for university equipment and fire alarm systems.
  • Assist with elevator repairs and coordinate with elevator service technicians.
  • Set up and carry out system shutdowns as directed by Facilities Operations.
  • Complete additional duties or tasks as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED with at least three years of applicable maintenance experience.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to operate university vehicles.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate's or technical degree from an accredited institution.
  • Four or more years of maintenance experience, including refrigeration, pneumatic control, and experience with Johnson Controls Metasys or similar systems.
  • Non‑restricted Condition Air license in Georgia.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Use power tools safely and effectively.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication.
  • Read and interpret drawings and system schematics.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and related software.
  • Familiar with digital work‑order systems and labor tracking.
  • Knowledge of mechanical, HVAC, refrigeration, and other mechanical equipment.
Shift / Salary / Benefits

Shift: Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m. (subject to change). On‑call duties required.
Pay Band: 8
Salary: $21.83–$21.89 per hour, commensurate with qualifications.
Recruitment Period: 6/12/26 – Until Filled

All selected candidates must pass a background check and, if applicable, a credit check, motor‑vehicle report, and department purchase‑card verification. Faculty hires must provide proof of academic degrees and post‑secondary transcripts. Employees must adhere to cybersecurity and privacy policies and confidentiality requirements.

Driver's License Statement

Human Resources will request a driver’s history report for the selected candidate. The candidate must possess a valid driver's license.
