Position: Environmental Services Technician (GWVNH)

Location: Augusta University

The Environmental Services Technician is responsible for cleaning and sanitizing assigned resident care areas, administrative, rehabilitation, and visitor areas in a long‑term care facility licensed for 192 beds.

Responsibilities
  • Perform janitorial duties including dusting, dry mopping, and wet mopping of all traffic areas, resident areas, and corridors using a chemically treated dust mop.
  • Use a germicidal solution to wet mop floors and eradicate both gram‑positive and gram‑negative pathogens.
  • Thoroughly clean and disinfect restrooms and showers daily with a germicidal solution; keep vents dust‑free.
  • Collect and transport biohazardous waste to designated disposal areas.
  • Inspect resident floors and corridors, remove spots and spillage, and buff floors as needed.
  • Damp wipe or clean chairs, bedside cabinets, overbed trays, and exposed areas of residents’ beds with a germicidal solution.
  • Spot clean and sanitize walls, doors, door sills, door hinges, and doorknobs with a germicidal solution; remove fingermarks and smudges.
  • Sanitize shower walls, removing mold and mildew.
  • Perform terminal clean units when residents are discharged, including complete cleaning of resident closets and bedside cabinets.
  • Participate in special cleaning projects as directed by supervisors.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent.
  • One year of experience in a similar position in a commercial, hospital, or industrial environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience in environmental cleaning, particularly in a healthcare environment.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Ability to interact positively with the elderly population.
  • Excellent customer service and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Ability to perform to established standards.
  • Ability to follow oral instructions and written procedures.
  • Ability to prioritize work to provide a clean environment and promote resident, staff, and visitor safety.
Shift/Salaries/Benefits

Salary:
Minimum: $15.00/hour
