The Environmental Services Technician is responsible for cleaning and sanitizing assigned resident care areas, administrative, rehabilitation, and visitor areas in a long‑term care facility licensed for 192 beds.
Responsibilities- Perform janitorial duties including dusting, dry mopping, and wet mopping of all traffic areas, resident areas, and corridors using a chemically treated dust mop.
- Use a germicidal solution to wet mop floors and eradicate both gram‑positive and gram‑negative pathogens.
- Thoroughly clean and disinfect restrooms and showers daily with a germicidal solution; keep vents dust‑free.
- Collect and transport biohazardous waste to designated disposal areas.
- Inspect resident floors and corridors, remove spots and spillage, and buff floors as needed.
- Damp wipe or clean chairs, bedside cabinets, overbed trays, and exposed areas of residents’ beds with a germicidal solution.
- Spot clean and sanitize walls, doors, door sills, door hinges, and doorknobs with a germicidal solution; remove fingermarks and smudges.
- Sanitize shower walls, removing mold and mildew.
- Perform terminal clean units when residents are discharged, including complete cleaning of resident closets and bedside cabinets.
- Participate in special cleaning projects as directed by supervisors.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma, GED or equivalent.
- One year of experience in a similar position in a commercial, hospital, or industrial environment.
- Previous experience in environmental cleaning, particularly in a healthcare environment.
- Ability to interact positively with the elderly population.
- Excellent customer service and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to work well in a team environment.
- Ability to perform to established standards.
- Ability to follow oral instructions and written procedures.
- Ability to prioritize work to provide a clean environment and promote resident, staff, and visitor safety.
Salary:
Minimum: $15.00/hour
All selected candidates are required to successfully pass a background check review prior to starting with Augusta University.
