Qualifications- Education: Completion of at least ninth grade; high school graduation or equivalent preferred.
- Certification or Licensure: None required; those with appropriate certificates may handle HVAC equipment.
- Skills: Knowledge of the seven core competencies of the Supporting Services Professional Growth System (commitment to the student, professional, interpersonal, organizational, problem‑solving). Knowledge of building and grounds work methods, materials, and practices. Ability to operate and maintain custodial and grounds care equipment (scrubbers, hydraulic lifts). Proficiency with personal protective equipment and safety practices. Ability to monitor building spaces and grounds for safety.
Basic emergency response knowledge. Ability to follow oral or written instructions. - Work Experience: Previous experience in public housekeeping. Leading or supervising work activities is desirable. Physical readiness to pass a rigid physical examination and perform heavy manual work.
This position is responsible for performing building cleaning and facilities maintenance work in schools and administrative buildings, including related facilities and grounds maintenance tasks.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Perform all duties assigned by the administrator, such as:
- Sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, and waxing floors
- Cleaning blinds, interior and exterior window glass, light fixtures, walls, carpets, and restroom facilities (showers, urinals, commodes, fixtures)
- Maintaining grounds related to the building (cutting grass and shrubbery, trimming, edging)
- Assisting with training new employees in all phases of housekeeping and grounds care
- Assisting the principal in scheduling and supervising established work standards of other building custodians
- Providing on‑job training in the application of simple manual skills and use of cleaning and grounds tools and equipment to clean interiors and maintain grounds
- Carrying out any other duties assigned by supervisor or required by policy, regulations, or regulations necessary for efficient operation of the school system
Environment includes moderate noise levels. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Regularly required to talk and hear, walk, stand, and sit.
Special RequirementsAbility to lift moderately heavy objects, climb, complete inspection of work, and perform maintenance activities. Repetitive work requiring sustained physical effort, including heavy lifting of furniture and equipment, with exposure to accident and injury hazards. Frequent overtime or night work required. Ability to respond to emergency work requirements at any time and to work overtime and unusual hours. Required to report to buildings during inclement weather.

- Salary: $24,914 to $33,530 per year.
