Job Description

This is maintenance and personal service work involving the custodial care and maintenance of public or institutional buildings and premises. Work is performed under general supervision.

Representative Tasks
  • Scrubs, mops, waxes, and polishes floors; dusts and polishes furniture;
  • Washes windows, woodwork, toilets, washrooms, and fixtures in order to maintain cleanliness and appearance.
  • Inspects institutional areas in order to safeguard property and equipment in the building and on the premises.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required
  • Knowledge of materials, methods, and equipment used in janitorial work.
  • Knowledge of the precautions necessary to safeguard property and equipment.
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to perform a variety of manual tasks in the care, cleaning, and maintenance of buildings and equipment.
  • Ability to use a computer for email and time entry.
  • Ability to work and make decisions on your own.
  • Ability to adjust work schedule as needed due to operational needs.
  • Ability to follow work rules and Standard Operating Procedures.
Minimum Qualifications

Experience and training which demonstrates a basic knowledge of building and grounds maintenance and repair.
