Do you have experience in building maintenance and enjoy keeping facilities safe, clean, and ready for events? The Augusta Civic Center is seeking a full‑time Maintenance Operations Worker to support our public auditorium and function spaces. In this hands‑on role, you’ll perform custodial and maintenance tasks, assist with event setup and teardown, operate equipment safely, and help oversee part‑time facilities maintenance staff.

Due to the nature of this role, the work schedule varies to accommodate scheduled events and operational needs. Employees should expect to work primarily evenings, nights, weekends, and some holidays, with days off changing from week to week.
RequirementsHigh school diploma (or equivalent) and at least two years of building maintenance experience are required, along with a valid Maine driver’s license. Forklift certification is a plus. Must be available to work evenings, overnight hours (after events), and weekends.
Compensation & BenefitsThis full‑time (40 hours/week), non‑exempt hourly position offers a comprehensive compensation and benefits package. Starting pay ranges from $22.71 to $25.62 per hour depending on experience and qualifications. Employees receive an annual cost of living adjustment (COLA) and step increases as outlined in the Teamsters Local 340 union contract. The City covers 80% of health, dental, and vision premiums and provides a Health Reimbursement Arrangement (HRA) to help offset the health plan deductible, plus an annual medical FSA contribution of $350.
Employees with alternative equivalent health coverage are eligible for an annual medical buyout ($2,400 – $3,600 based on eligibility). Employees participate in the MainePERS Plan AC, a defined benefit retirement plan (employees do not pay into Social Security). Paid time off includes vacation, sick leave, and 13 holidays per year. Additional benefits include life insurance, short‑term disability, 457(b) retirement plan, tuition reimbursement, and more.
