Salary:
Pay for this position is determined by the Operations Salary Schedule based on experience. Starting wage is $19.99-$23.83 an hour. Benefits Include health insurance, dental insurance, vision insurance, life insurance, PERA retirement, paid time off, and other optional benefit elections. Purpose of the Job:
The Grounds Coordinator oversees the maintenance, safety, and overall appearance of district grounds, athletic fields, and outdoor facilities. This position supervises the Grounds Maintenance Workers and ensures the timely and effective completion of landscaping, irrigation, snow removal, and other outdoor maintenance projects. The Coordinator also manages equipment, schedules workflow, and ensures compliance with safety regulations.
Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent required
Experience:
Four (4) to six (6) years of job-related experience, including some supervisory experience
Must be 21 years of age or older and possess a valid Colorado Driver’s License
Ability to pass a criminal background check and pre-employment physical screening
Other Criteria:
- Strong knowledge of landscaping, irrigation systems, and grounds maintenance equipment.
- Familiarity with OSHA safety regulations.
- Effective leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Capable of lifting, carrying, and pushing up to 100 lbs.
- Proficiency in basic technology tools for communication and record-keeping.
- Ability to effectively read, write, speak and listen to comply with directions and instructions to complete tasks and establish priorities.
- Integrity, trust and work ethic to be able to work with little supervision.
- Competent understanding of technology to perform the job.
- Implements appropriate physical and technical safeguards to protect the confidentiality, integrity and availability of district data.
- Maintains good security practices with passwords and accounts to the various district systems and applications.
- Reports actual or suspected breaches in the confidentiality, integrity or availability of district data to appropriate district personnel.
- Follows all board policies for acceptable use of district technology.

- Supervision & Training:
Oversee the Grounds Maintenance Workers, providing direction, scheduling, and training. - Train staff on proper equipment usage, landscaping techniques, and safety protocols.
- Grounds & Facility Maintenance:
Plan, schedule, and coordinate mowing, trimming, pruning, irrigation, and general landscaping. - Maintain and repair athletic fields, playground equipment, and other outdoor facilities.
- Design, install, and maintain sprinkler and irrigation systems.
- Equipment Management:
Ensure all grounds equipment is properly serviced and maintained, including pruners, edgers, blowers, mowers, tractors, and heavy equipment. - Operate and train staff on equipment such as track hoes, skid loaders, aerators, sanders, spreaders, and chainsaws.
- Snow & Weather-Related Responsibilities:
Assign and oversee snow removal operations, ensuring safety on district properties. - Operate all necessary snow removal equipment and track progress.
- Administrative & Safety Compliance:
Maintain necessary records related to maintenance, equipment servicing, and work schedules. - Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, district policies, and safety procedures.
- Assist in contracting and bidding processes for grounds maintenance services.
- Other Duties:
Collaborate with district administrators and facilities teams to address grounds-related needs. - Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by the Facilities or Operations Director.
- Primarily an outdoor work setting, often in inclement weather conditions.
- Requires physical strength and coordination for operating heavy equipment.
- Some indoor administrative tasks related to scheduling, record-keeping, and training.
