Colorado Veterans Community Living Center (VCLC) at Fitzsimons is a beautiful 180-bed, skilled nursing facility serving Colorado’s veterans. While in this position, you are required to work at your assigned work location during your scheduled work times.

Please note:

Work arrangements are subject to change at any time. This position performs custodial work that relates to the general upkeep and sanitation of the facility.

• Perform daily sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and restroom servicing in assigned work areas.
• Maintain hard floors (buffing, scrubbing, stripping, waxing) and carpets (shampooing, extracting, spot cleaning).
• Execute thorough monthly or on‑request room deep cleans, disinfecting all surfaces, furnishings, beds, and curtains.
• Safely collect, contain, and transport general trash and bio‑hazardous waste to designated disposal locations.
• Safely operate cleaning equipment and properly apply disinfectant cleaners in accordance with chemical labeling requirements.
• Maintain orderly custodian closets, clean equipment, and stock/distribute supplies throughout the facility to meet par levels.
• Assist with moving furniture and appliances, replace light bulbs, and help with minor building repairs.
• Other duties as assigned

Six (6) months of relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned to this position.

• Experience in a long‑term care/assisted living environment
• One year of experience working as a custodian
• Working with biohazardous waste

• FULL BACKGROUND CHECK:
  This position will have direct contact with vulnerable persons (as defined by C.R.S.27-90-111: "Direct contact" means providing face‑to‑face care, training, supervision, counseling, consultation, or medication assistance to vulnerable persons, regardless of the level of supervision of the department employee. "Direct contact" may include positions in which persons have access to or unsupervised time with clients or patients, including but not limited to maintenance personnel, housekeeping staff, kitchen staff, and security personnel)
• Full background checks include: CBI & FBI fingerprint check, Colorado Court Database check, Medicare Fraud Database, TRAILS Database check.
• This position requires State of Colorado residency at the time of application (unless otherwise identified in the posting), and residency within the state throughout the duration of employment in this position.
• Must complete and pass a tuberculosis (TB) test.
• Must be willing to obtain vaccinations, as required by the State and facility.
• Use, Handling, or Exposure to hazardous materials – Proximity to moving, mechanical parts; exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals; exposure to electrical shock, and/or working in high exposed places.
• Must be able to work shift work, which may include day, evening, and night shifts, as well as holiday & weekends, as needed.
