OverviewPosition Overview:
Assist in the achievement, and act in support of the company goals with respect to Shipping and Receiving department.
Shipping:
- Compares identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures items of outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records.
- Assembles wooden or cardboard containers or selects preassembled containers. Inserts items into containers, using spacers, fillers, and protective padding.
- Stamps, stencils, or glues identifying information and shipping instructions onto crates or containers.
Receiving:
- Unpacks and examines incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages, and forwards information to sales or purchasing to contact the shipper to rectify damages and shortages.
- Compares identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures items of incoming shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records.
- Forward the incoming paperwork with the actual counts to the office.
- Routes items to inspection with incoming paperwork attached.
