Position: POOL ATTENDANT

BASIC FUNCTION

The Pool Attendant (PA) is responsible for overseeing the day‑to‑day operations and performance of a facility within the Aquatics Department. Responsibilities include maintaining a clean facility, checking in residents and their guests, ensuring client satisfaction, and upholding all Hastings Water Works policies and procedures.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • As residents and their guests check‑in, verify that they are residents and permitted to use the pool.
  • Perform assigned opening duties before the facility opens and closing procedures before the facility is secured, such as vacuuming the pool, opening/closing umbrellas, sweeping the pool deck, straightening pool furniture, taking and recording pool chemicals, balancing pool chemicals, stocking restrooms, cleaning the scum line, and emptying skimmer baskets.
  • Maintain a clean facility while on duty: empty trash (transporting trash containers to the street weekly), cleaning and restocking restrooms, straightening pool furniture, and sweeping the pool deck.
  • Maintain pool chemistry within state‑required ranges, testing and recording in the chemical logbook every four hours while the facility is open.
  • Escalate abnormalities in chemicals and/or equipment to the Area Manager and call the manager before making any adjustments.
LEADERSHIP
  • Enforce facility policy adherence.
  • Check pool passes and enforce posted pool rules.
  • Communicate client complaints to the Area Manager.
  • Maintain a professional attitude with patrons and clients.
ADMINISTRATIVE
  • Log attendance every hour.
  • Complete incident reports following any incident; call the Area Manager after an incident.
  • Record chemical readings every four hours in the chemical logbook.
  • Complete additional reporting as assigned.
TRAINING
  • Attend a minimum of one in‑service training each month employed.
REQUIREMENTS

Preferred Qualifications
  • Must have a smartphone.
Experience
  • Minimum age of 16 years.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

The job requires activities such as standing, sitting, walking, stooping, running, climbing, writing, filing, crawling, squatting, bending, twisting, balancing, and carrying. Lifting weights up to 60 lbs is common; heavier loads may be required. Work may be performed in cold or hot temperatures, in noisy or humid conditions, and with exposure to fumes, odors, mists, vibration, dust, or wet environments. Hearing and spoken communication are essential for daily operations, including phone use and conversation.
